Lisa Lunsford is the co-founder and CEO of GS3 Global, a tier one manufacturer headquartered in the metro-Detroit area. The company, a supply chain integrator, specializes in metal form manufacturing and assembly. Under Lunsford’s leadership, the company has experienced phenomenal growth, and was ranked among the top 50 largest woman-owned businesses in Michigan by Crain’s Detroit Business in 2017.
Lunsford has over 30 years of experience in the mobility space. Prior to the founding of two successful companies, Lunsford began her career in mobility at Ford Motor Company as a research and development engineer in the plastics division, now known as Visteon. After ten years with Ford, Lunsford founded iThinc, a custom software development company that develops intuitive web-enabled supply chain applications. After successfully launching iThinc, Lunsford went on to create GS3 Global in 2010. Through her various board positions and speaking engagements, Lunsford encourages, supports and mentors the next generation of creators. In 2018, Lunsford was named to the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Board of Directors and The Detroit Children’s Center. She is an advisory board member to the Mike Illitch School of Business Global Supply Chain Management, and a past board member of the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP). In 2020, Lunsford began her tenure as the chair of the MICHauto Board of Directors. Among other recognitions, in 2016, Lunsford was named one of Crain’s 100 Most Influential Women, and she was among the eight women featured in DBusiness Magazine’s 2016 ‘Powered By Women’ issue. She was honored by Automotive News in 2015 and in 2020 as one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry. She was also recognized with Corp! Magazine’s Salute to Diversity award in 2017 as a Diversity Business Leader, and was inducted into the Michigan Chronicle’s 2015 class of Women of Excellence. In 2019-20, Lunsford qualified for and completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Course, and was a finalist for the EY 2020 Entrepreneur of the Year award for Michigan and Northwest Ohio. GS3 Global was recognized in 2020 by the Small Business Association of Michigan among their annual list of ‘50 Companies to Watch.’ The company also won the 2014 Supplier of the Year Award from the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC), and the 2015 Regional Supplier of the Year Award from the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). In 2017, GS3 was named to Black Enterprise Magazine’s Top 100s list, recognizing the nation’s largest African American businesses. Lunsford holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. Lunsford resides in Detroit, Michigan, with her husband and daughter. |
